Miles Davis featured playing, So What!
He was a true latch key kid, spending most of his time in the streets. He grew up next to a welfare hotel, which was a home for drug addicts, the mentally ill and many other interesting characters that would later appear in his paintings.

Bua was fascinated by the raw, visceral Manhattan street life and found himself spending most of his time hanging out at places like Rock Steady Park and the Douglas Projects. These environments inspired many paintings, for example, RISING is a painting that exemplifies the poetic struggle to rise above the insurmountable stigma of the projects," says Bua.  Justin Bua teaches Figure Drawing in the Fine Arts Department at the University of Southern California (USC) and lives in Los Angeles, CA.

Adams was born on Christmas Eve 1961 in Harlem, New York. He grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey where he still lives and works. From an early age he had wanted to be an artist and in 1984 he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rutgers University.
In 1987 the artist came to the attention of Bill Cosby who recognized his talent and praised his “wholesome realism”. Cosby offered the artist a fellowship that enabled him to pursue graduate studied and in 1991 Adams received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the university of Pennsylvania.

Working in various media including oils, watercolors and pencil, Adams creates works brimming with human emotions. His palette is dominated by the earth tones favored by Rembrandt and the African American masters he admires - Charles White, Jacob Lawrence and Romare Bearden.

e has received commissions from Merrill Lynch, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Motown, Ortho Pharmaceutical, Absolut Vodka and Black Enterprise Magazine, among others. His works hang in the collections of Bill Cosby, Andrew Young, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Earl Graves, Maya Angelou, Patti Labelle, Jasmine Guy, Eddie Murphy and Senator Bill Bradley.
Bruni Sablan
Bruni Sablan, known as the jazz artist,  was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil circa the mid-twentieth century. Artistry has been her heritage. Her father Joseph Parello, of Sicilian decent, a civil engineer and architect, also painted. Her mother, Clo Parello, of Lebanese decent, was an accomplished classical pianist and beloved piano instructor for many years in the Northern California bay area.

Bruni’s father introduced her to American jazz at a very early time in her life, she was five years old.

Bruni is a highly spiritual being, and feels she connects with the souls of her subjects, which results in a tremendously fast, energetic, and sometimes aggressive venture.  This can leave her in a state of complete exhaustion. But, her energy and inspiration seem to get replenished endlessly.

Bernard Stanley Hoyes was born in Kingston, Jamaica.
Bernard Hoyes
From the early age of nine his mother sold his wood carvings and watercolors to visitors to the Tourist Board in Kingston to help maintain the household and support his creative efforts.

Infused with strong primary colors and painted intuitively, his work dramatically captures the mysticism and majesty of the religion. We are offered a bird’s eye view of the spectacle of bodies caught in spirit possession, the ceremonial rituals and gestures - a rare anthropological treat.
